This policy applies when you sell or buy items on the Bildfie Marketplace, run a shop, resell another seller's items, or use Bildfie point of sale and stock tools. It is part of our Terms of Service.

1.Listing items

In shortSell only what you own or may sell, describe it truthfully and use your own photos.
  • You must own the item or be allowed to sell it, and it must be legal to sell where you and the buyer are.
  • Describe it honestly: condition, faults, size, model, what is included, and the real price in the price field.
  • Use your own photos of the actual item, not pictures copied from elsewhere.
  • Choose the right category and tags. No contact details, outside links or payment numbers in listings.

2.Prohibited and restricted items

In shortSome items may never be sold on Bildfie; others need records or licences.

Never allowed:

  • weapons, ammunition, explosives and their parts;
  • illegal drugs, drug equipment, and prescription medicines without a licensed pharmacy;
  • stolen goods, counterfeit or fake branded items, and items that copy someone else's design or software;
  • human remains, body parts, and live wild animals or products of protected wildlife (ivory, horn, skins);
  • adult and sexual products and services;
  • documents such as IDs, passports, certificates and licences, and services to fake them;
  • hacked accounts, personal data, and tools for hacking or spying;
  • anything else the law forbids.

Allowed with conditions: alcohol, tobacco and age-restricted goods (only where legal and never to under-18s); food and cosmetics (safe, labelled, within date); electrical goods (safe and as described); protected items (see below).

3.Protected items: phones, computers, vehicles and more

In shortItems that are often stolen need live photos and a sealed serial, IMEI or chassis record, and payment clears 30 minutes after handover.

Phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, watches, cameras, game consoles, TVs and all vehicles (cars, trucks and buses, motorbikes, tuk-tuks, golf carts and bicycles) are protected items. To sell one:

  • take the photos live in the app or browser when asked, not from your gallery;
  • enter the serial, IMEI or chassis number; it is encrypted and sealed with the listing and cannot be changed afterwards;
  • at handover, the buyer checks the item against the record;
  • payment is released and then clears for 30 minutes. During that time the buyer can report robbery or a scam and the money is held while we look.

We share these records with the authorities when the law requires, for example to trace stolen property.

4.Orders, payment and delivery

In shortBuyers pay through Bildfie. The seller is paid when the order is delivered.
  • Buyers pay through Bildfie, into escrow, or on delivery where the seller offers it. Never pay outside Bildfie.
  • Sellers must dispatch or hand over within the time stated, and mark the order as sent or delivered.
  • The seller is paid, less commission, when the order is delivered and any clearing time has passed.
  • Delivery addresses are shared only with the people delivering the order.

5.Returns, cancellations and problems

In shortItems must arrive as described. Problems go through Report a problem and our disputes process.
  • If an item does not arrive or is not as described, the buyer reports a problem on the order. The money stays held while it is sorted out.
  • Sellers may offer change-of-mind returns; if they do, they must honour them.
  • A seller who cancels an order must refund it in full.
  • Disputes are decided under the Disputes & Refunds Policy.

6.Shops, reselling and point of sale

In shortYour shop, stock and till records are yours. Reselling needs the original seller's terms.
  • A shop on Bildfie shows your products and takes orders through Bildfie. You are responsible for your prices, stock and products.
  • Reselling: you may resell another seller's item only through the Bildfie reselling feature, which shares the sale between you as shown.
  • Point of sale and stock: your till, stock and customer records are your own business records. If a customer pays by an M-Pesa prompt sent through Bildfie, the commission for in-shop M-Pesa prompts applies.
  • Keep receipts and records your tax authority requires.

7.Staying safe as a buyer

In shortPay on Bildfie, meet in safe public places, and check before you accept.
  • Pay only through Bildfie. Anyone asking you to pay outside Bildfie is breaking our rules; report them.
  • For handovers, meet in a busy public place in daylight, or use a delivery service.
  • Check the item before you confirm, and for protected items compare the serial, IMEI or chassis number.
