These Payments & Wallet Terms explain how money moves on Bildfie: your wallet, M-Pesa payments, escrow, phase payments, commissions, withdrawals and what happens when something goes wrong. They are part of our Terms of Service.

1.Your Bildfie wallet

In shortYour wallet holds money you top up and money you earn. It is not a bank account and earns no interest.
  • Every account has a Bildfie wallet in Kenya shillings (KES). It shows money you can spend, money set aside for deals, and money on its way to you.
  • Your wallet is a record of money Bildfie holds for you to use on the Service. It is not a bank or savings account, and it earns no interest.
  • Money in your wallet may be set aside ("reserved") for a project, a phase, an order or a group, and cannot be spent elsewhere until it is released or returned.
  • Your balance is hidden until you tap to reveal it and enter your transaction PIN.

2.Paying in with M-Pesa

In shortTop-ups and payments are made by an M-Pesa prompt on your phone or through our paybill.
  • We accept payments through M-Pesa (Safaricom). When you pay, an M-Pesa prompt is sent to the phone number you choose; you approve it with your M-Pesa PIN. We never see your M-Pesa PIN.
  • The smallest top-up is KES 50.
  • Each M-Pesa payment is recorded with its transaction code, the name registered on M-Pesa, the phone number, time, amount, purpose and who it was for. You can see your own records in your wallet.
  • If a prompt is not answered, it expires. If money left your M-Pesa but did not reach your wallet, report it from the wallet page with the M-Pesa code; we check it with Safaricom and credit or return it.

3.Escrow: money held until the work is done

In shortFor hires and many sales, the money is set aside first and released only when the agreed step is done.

Escrow protects both sides. The payer knows the money is released only for what was delivered; the receiver knows the money is really there. Bildfie uses escrow for:

4.Paying for work in phases

In shortFund a phase, the professional marks it finished, you mark it done, and they are paid within 15 minutes.
  1. Fund: you fund the next phase from your wallet. The money is set aside for that phase.
  2. Finished: the professional marks the phase finished. The money moves into escrow.
  3. Done: you check the work and mark the phase done.
  4. Paid: the money, less commission, is paid to the professional's wallet within 15 minutes. You can stop the payment during those 15 minutes if you made a mistake.

You can take back money from a phase until the work is marked finished. After that, if you do not agree the work is done, open a dispute (Disputes & Refunds Policy).

5.Fees and commission

In shortEach kind of income has its own commission rate, shown before you pay or accept. It is taken from the amount released.
  • Bildfie charges a commission on money earned through the Service. Each source has its own rate set by Bildfie: projects and hires, property rent, sales and deposits, container orders, shop orders, marketplace sales, reselling, in-shop M-Pesa prompts, digital products, invoices paid online, courses and sessions with a teacher.
  • The rate that applies is shown before you pay, accept or publish. It is deducted from the amount released to the receiver; the payer pays the price shown.
  • Some features, such as featured profiles or paid listings, have a price shown before you buy.
  • We may change rates for the future. A change never applies to money already set aside for a deal.

6.Withdrawing money

In shortWithdraw your available balance to your M-Pesa number with your transaction PIN.
  • You can withdraw money that is available (not set aside) to the M-Pesa number on your account. Each withdrawal needs your transaction PIN.
  • Minimum and maximum amounts are shown on the withdraw form.
  • We may delay or hold a withdrawal to check for fraud, to settle a dispute, after a change to your password, phone or PIN, or when the law requires.
  • Check the number before you confirm. If money is sent to the number you gave, we cannot always get it back.

7.Your transaction PIN

In shortYour PIN protects your balance and money going out. Keep it secret.
  • Your transaction PIN is needed to see your balance and to send money out. It is stored only as a one-way hash, so nobody at Bildfie can read it.
  • After 5 wrong tries, the PIN is locked for 15 minutes.
  • Staff will never ask for your PIN, your password or your M-Pesa PIN. Anyone who asks is not from Bildfie.

8.Invoices, receipts and records

In shortEvery payment has a record. Your own invoices to clients can be paid online through Bildfie.

Every payment creates a record in your wallet, and many create a receipt or invoice you can download. Invoices you send to your own clients can be paid through Bildfie; the commission for invoices paid online applies. Records are kept as the law requires (Privacy Policy) and are never deleted early.

9.Mistakes, reversals and unauthorised payments

In shortTell us quickly. We fix our mistakes, and we may reverse money credited by mistake.
  • If money was credited to your wallet by mistake (by us, by M-Pesa or by another member), we may reverse it. Wallet records are never deleted: a correction is added as a new entry, so the history stays complete.
  • If you think a payment from your account was not made by you, change your password and PIN, and contact support@bildfie.com at once.
  • Problems with a payment can be reported from the wallet page. We investigate and tell you the result.

10.Paying outside Bildfie

In shortNot allowed for deals that started on Bildfie, and you lose all protection.

Paying or asking to be paid outside Bildfie for a deal that started on Bildfie, including by sharing a till, paybill or account number, breaks our Terms of Service and Community Standards. We cannot help with money paid outside Bildfie.

11.Money held for groups

In shortGroup money follows the group's rules and needs approval from its officials.

Money paid into a group, chama or fundraiser on Bildfie is held for that group and moves only as the group's rules allow, usually with approval by more than one official. Cash paid outside Bildfie can be recorded but is not held by Bildfie. See Groups, Chamas & Fundraisers Terms.
